WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced Thursday that the Peoria International Airport is receiving $1.4 million in funding. A statement from Senator Durbin says that the funding will be used to rehabilitate the airport’s apron.
“Peoria International Airport is a critical transportation link for central Illinois, providing direct access to the region for travelers and businesses,” said Durbin. “If we’re going to continue growing our local economy by supporting the businesses we have here and attracting new ones to the region, we need to keep looking forward and investing in our infrastructure."
"Today’s investment in the Peoria International Airport will help our area transport passengers and goods in a safer manner while also putting people to work and growing the local economy," Bustos said.
The grant was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Airport Improvement Program which is funded by the Airport and Airways Trust Fund.
