Airport Authority Announces New Delta Service to Atlanta

Peoria, IL— The Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria (MAAP) announced Friday that Delta Air Lines will launch new nonstop daily service to Atlanta beginning in spring 2012.

The new flights will operate three times daily, and will complement Delta’s existing service to Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul.

“This new route is great news for our passengers, including both business and leisure travelers,” stated Gene Olson, PIA Director of Airports. “This service fills in a strategic link to major places Peoria and surrounding area folks want to go.”

“Our new nonstop service between Peoria and our international gateway in Atlanta will provide our Peoria customers with convenient connecting flights to more than 200 destinations worldwide, including nearly 70 international cities,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s managing director – Domestic Network Planning. “Thanks to a successful partnership with the community, Delta’s service to our Atlanta, Detroit and Minneapolis-St. Paul hubs will provide Peoria travelers more seats to more destinations than any other airline, with easy connections to Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.”

The Atlanta flights, which will be operated using 50-seat regional jets, will begin April 9, 2012, and will be available for sale starting Nov. 26, 2011, at and other ticketing outlets.
